Joan Crenshaw Joins Board
Joan recently retired after 36 years with the Department of Defense, most recently as a Lead Casualty Data Analyst. She has lived in Monterey County for 41 years and has an extensive history of volunteerism with Special Olympic, Pac Rep and Junior League of Monterey County. She is very pleased to be joining our Board and involved in our future.
Please join The Carmel Foundation in welcoming Allison Kendall to our staff! She will be working at reception with Janice. She has a wealth of experience including administrative support, customer service and technical skills. Welcome Allison!
Pam is Back!
Pam Walters lives in Carmel and has been a member of the Foundation since 2004. She has a marketing background having worked for various large advertising agencies in Chicago and New York in the past. She volunteers and takes classes at the Foundation. She believes The Carmel Foundation is a forward thinking organization in the community and feels she can offer her marketing skills to the mix.
Also joining the Board is Shirley Kiatta
Shirley is an RN and Certified Care Manager who currently runs her own business as an Elder Care Consultant. She has experience on a number of Boards, has supported the Foundation over the past few years by attending our events and speaking here. She would like to be a part of creating opportunities to ease the stresses of the life changes that accompany aging
Katherine Bucquet Named to Board of Directors
Both sets of Katherine “Kitty” Bucquet’s grandparents lived in Carmel since the ‘20s and in 1955 her family moved to Carmel as well. Kitty earned the label of “Carmelite” by attending River School, Sunset School and Carmel High School before leaving for college. Kitty returned to Carmel in 1997 to manage the family business and has been here ever since. Her hobbies include hiking and reading, her dogs Teddy and Evan and she intends to learn to play bridge “pretty soon”. Both Kitty and her mother have been long-time Foundation members

Theresa Wright, KSBW Public Affairs Manager and host of Feedback @ Five, will feature the Foundation and Village on its February 16th show. Feedback @ Five is an engaging half-hour show hosted and produced by Theresa Wright. It airs Sundays at 5:00pm on Central Coast ABC.
Saturday Program Assistant Farewell and Welcome!
Join us in wishing a fond farewell to George Bowery as he retires from being our faithful Saturday Program Assistant. He has worked nearly every Saturday since 2006. Thank you, George!
Please welcome Carol Deuel and Marge Simmons to The Carmel Foundation who will be working alternating Saturdays .
Please welcome Alfredo Campa as our new Maintenance Assistant. He has worked for Target for the past 5 years in a variety of capacities including stocking, cashier and cart attendant. He also has worked events on an on-call basis for Pebble Beach Company and has experience with the kitchen, dishwashing and clean up
The Carmel Foundation Named Best Non-Profit
The Carmel Chamber of Commerce hosted its Awards of Excellence Gala Dinner at Rancho Canada on December 11, naming The Carmel Foundation the “Best Non-profit” edging out the Alzheimer’s Association and the Carmel Public Library Foundation.
The awards are bestowed on businesses (nominated by the public; voted on by chamber members) that “excel in quality service and/or products, practice the highest business ethics, foster a beautiful environment and exemplify enlightened customer service and staff relations.”
The Carmel Foundation Announces Partnership with ITN/Monterey County
Effective November 1, 2013, ITN/MontereyCounty will be the transportation service provider for our members. They are a nonprofit that provides 24/7 service, offering a safe, reliable, and comfortable ride system through which our members can maintain their independence and mobility. All current riders were notified of this change and provided opportunities to sign up with ITN at the Foundation. Members will also have continued access to MST taxi vouchers and grocery shopping by volunteers. See our website for a complete overview of our transportation services.
